Travel Division Travel teams require a higher level of committment from both players and parents/guardians. Players may need to purchase travel uniforms in addition to the registration fee. Teams are required to practice multiple times during the week and travel to games (whenever necessary).   Placement of players is based on different factors and is decided by the Board.

Note to parents and coaches about Travel teams: The SSA forms the greatest number of Travel teams possible, using age, grade, and number of players registered as the main criteria. Decisions about the number of teams formed and the division in which the teams will play (U10, U11, U12, etc) are based on the number of players who register for Travel. No coach is assured of a having a specific team or specific players from season to season. Similarly, players are not assured of playing for a specific coach or with specific other players. The numbers - and thus the composition of teams - change year to year and Spring to Fall. Our goal is to have as many of the children who register for Travel soccer, play Travel soccer. Tryouts are the exception, not the rule. In every Board decision the focus is to be as fair as possible to all players and teams and to do what is best for the organization as a whole. Any questions about this policy may be directed to Travel Coordinator Tom O'Grady at tsoopllc@aol.com.

Volunteers Needed
by posted 02/23/2008

The Somers Soccer Associations success depends greatly on our generous volunteers who provide countless hours in various positions. We want to thank the hundreds of parents and friends who have helped in the past. No one is more important than another. Everyone fulfills a vital function within the organization.
Providing quality soccer programs to over four hundred children each season becomes easier with each additional volunteer. We urge all parents to become involved.  It can be a very rewarding experience, and there are plenty of ways to volunteer.

If you would like to help out, while at the same time enhance you and your child’s life, email our volunteer coordinator or any board member. You can find them on the member’s page.  We look forward to hearing from you!
